BSG Wismut Gera is a football club rich in tradition from the city of Gera, in the state of Thuringia (Germany). Founded in 1951, the club carries the legacy of East German football, having regularly competed in top leagues such as the DDR-Liga and the DDR-Oberliga. The name “Wismut” originates from uranium and bismuth mining – a symbol closely tied to the miners of the region, and the origin of the well-known greeting “Glück Auf” (“Good luck”).
After German reunification in 1990, the club went through several mergers and restructurings but managed to preserve its identity and traditions. Today, BSG Wismut Gera competes in the Thüringenliga and stands out with its youth development program through the Nachwuchsakademie Glück Auf, which nurtures and develops future football talents.
