FC Lokomotive Leipzig e.V., based in the Probstheida district of Leipzig, is one of Germany’s most historically significant football clubs. Formerly known as VfB Leipzig, the club holds the distinction of being the first-ever German national champion. During the East German era, it earned numerous accolades, including four FDGB-Pokal victories and the 1966 Intertoto Cup title, and reached the final of the 1986–87 European Cup Winners’ Cup.

After reunification, the club briefly played in the Bundesliga but later faced financial hardship. Relaunched in 2003, 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig has since been rebuilding, currently competing in the Regionalliga Nordost. With a rich legacy and a dedicated fan base, the club continues to inspire the next generation of players across youth competitions and tournaments.
