VfB Auerbach is a traditional German football club founded on 17 May 1906 in the city of Auerbach, Saxony. Originally named Auerbacher Fußball Club, it soon became one of the oldest clubs in the Vogtland region. After World War I, the club expanded with several sports departments and was renamed VfB Auerbach 1906. Following restructuring after World War II, it underwent several name changes before returning to its current name after German reunification. VfB Auerbach has been competing steadily in Saxony’s regional leagues and has been a member of the Regionalliga Nordost – the fourth tier of German football – since 2012. The team plays its home matches at the VfB Stadion, opened in 1921, which holds 5,000 spectators and features covered stands and modern floodlights. In addition to football, the club also offers tennis, gymnastics, and community sports activities. VfB Auerbach won the Landesliga Sachsen championship in 2003 and finished runner-up in the NOFV-Oberliga Süd in 2009, 2011, and 2012, establishing itself as one of the most consistent and respected clubs in eastern Germany.
